Moulding and casting

💡

Group assignment

  • Review the safety data sheets for each of your molding and casting materials

  • Make and compare test casts with each of them

  • Compare printing vs milling molds

About this week

Briefly describe the goal of the assignment. What are you characterizing, testing, or exploring

Thom: Used a Clear V4 mould formed via the FormLabs 3B+ SLA printer, to cast Urethane

Jesmonite

Jesmonite uses a 2.5 part dry material to 1 part wet materials.

It needs to be sired genitally but thoroughly so that you don't need introduce air but fully mix the materials.

I chose to use the pigments for the Jesmonite, in my case you can add up to 2% of the volume

I used a mould that came as a sample for a coaster and our egg roto-cast.
